Can't Stop Sewing

I'm addicted to sewing. This blog was meant to be all about my little sweeter than cupcake, but lately it's all about sewing. Not to worry, there will be lots of pictures of Little A coming. I just finished this little outfit for a baby shower gift. I don't think the new mommy-to-be follows the blog, so I'm hoping she doesn't get a sneak peek. OK, applique is not my thing. Every tutorial I've read makes it seem so easy. I do not do well with the stretchy fabric, but I don't think the baby will look too close. The skirt pattern is Pink Fig's Girly Skirt, and the fabrics are from Sandi Henderson's Ginger Blossom line. I'm fairly new to sewing which is probably why I'm obsessed at the moment. So, what made me take on a dress that is noted with a difficulty level of 4 out of 5? I guess I was intrigued by the challenge. This is from Amy Butler's Little Stitches for Little Ones. It is the Easy Empire-Waist Top. I'm assuming the "Easy" part is for "easy to wear" since the difficulty level is on the higher end of the spectrum. I love all of the details with the little bow and split cuffs on the sleeves.
I think Avery will appreciate the slits on the skirt for mobility. She has not made the leap to crawling yet. She likes to scoot on her bottom. She is able to get where she wants to go, so I guess she has not found the need to crawl. I'll have to get a little video of this to post. Back to the dress, I was able to use one of my vintage buttons from my stash. I love the jadeite color of this one. The floral fabric is by Amy Butler, and the purple fabric is another one of Sandi Henderson's.
