The Balloon Effect

Monday, November 8, 2010

What started out as a simple exercise ballooned into a full blown outfit this past weekend. I've pretty much decided to use this pattern, the Feliz by Farbenmix, for Avery's Christmas dress this year. For me, Farbenmix patterns run a little on the big side, but Avery is a little on the big side too. All this to say, I wasn't sure what size to make the Christmas dress. I had found a seller on etsy that made the Feliz in one layer instead of the over and under dress. I figured this would be a quick way to decide if I was on track with my sizing. After a few emails with the etsy designer, I was all set with how to make the modifications to the pattern. Then I started pulling out fabrics and trims. This quickly got out of hand. I recently received a great bag full of yummy vintage trims from my grandmother. Some of these truly make me swoon. (Yes, I do swoon for fabric and trims.) After I had the cute top, I couldn't stop there either. Thankfully, the Modkid Sophie pattern came together super quick and the fit is spot on. I'm hoping to get photos with my model tomorrow, but I knew I wouldn't be able to capture the details with her in motion.
