Spring Break New Orleans Style

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

Spring Break has pretty much been a non-event for me since college, but this year managed to be different. As I said in the last post, Avery was off at Camp Gramps. Well, Todd managed to schedule a week of training down in New Orleans at the same time which left me free to tag along! Todd's training started on Tuesday, so we got there early enough on Monday to stroll around and eat beignets in the French Quarter. The gallery photo is from a gallery that featured Pete the Cat artwork. If you have a toddler, you really need to get familar with Pete the Cat. You can listen to the story here too. The last photo in this collage is from a cooking class I attended while Todd was in training. While they demonstrated, we ate corn and crab bisque, shrimp creole, pralines, and bread pudding. Yum!

Tuesday I was able to meet up with my friend Paula and her kids who were in town from Laredo visiting their family. Paula introduced me to the wonder that is Sucre'. I enjoyed a delicious salted caramel chocolate cupcake. Paula had a wonderful triple chocolate mousse something or other, and Charlotte dined on strawberry gelato and chocolate sauce. This place was a feast for my eyes and tummy.

That evening we meet up with Paula and Walter for diner, but for some reason I forgot to take any pictures. We had a blast catching up with them at one of their favorite French restaurants. We ended up back at Sucre' for dessert too.

And, since the third time is the charm, Todd and I ventured to another location for dessert a different day.

This time I got the prettiest dessert on the menu. It is called the Tiffany, and all I can say is that it is raspberry chocolate goodness. Its as tasty as it is pretty.

It's back to the real world for the next few days then we head to Texas for a week. It's my birthday! It's time for Warrenton Antique Weekend! Woohoo!!
