Royal Color

Tuesday, December 10, 2013

‘Tis the season for Christmas dresses! I decided to forego some of the more traditional colors this year and play with some royal colors. Purple, fit for a King! After all Mary was told, “You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.” (Luke 1:31-33) Aren’t those words packed with comfort and hope?!?

In light of that here is Tandy’s royal dress.

The pattern is The Sally Dress by Very Shannon. Those deep pockets are a hit for both 2 year olds and 5 years alike!

I may or may not have tossed a couple treats in those pockets to extend the photo session a bit.

The bodice is an upcycled linen dress from Goodwill. I was able to use the lining from the same dress and utilize the existing sleeve hem.

The real star of the show is the skirt fabric from Jennifer Paganelli’s Circa line. That’s why I’ve included this dress on Jenny’s 12 days Celebrating Jennifer Paganelli blog hop. Jennifer Paganelli’s use of bold colors and prints inspires creativity in so many forms. Not only does she encourage creativity through fabric, but also though various crafts she shares on her blog. I hope you take a few minutes to look around and soak up a some creative juices for yourself!
