Modkid Jack and Jill

Did you catch that? Jack AND Jill. This soon to be released unisex hoodie is bound to have fans young and old, male and female. Patty Young of Modkid helps us bundle up in style with her newest pdf pattern. For my pattern test, I made the hoodie out of jersey knit with interlock knit for lining creating a lightweight jacket. A French Terry or fleece fabric would really warm things up. It’s fully lined, so the options are endless. Did I mention that the Jack and Jill will go up to size 14?

The trickiest part for me was locating the separating zipper. If Wal-mart doesn’t carry it, I can’t easily acquire sewing notions. That is, if I didn’t have a super awesome Mom that loves tracking down supplies for me. It’s pretty cool that I still get care packages along with my kids! I want to try out a chunky sport zipper next.

Back to the pattern, check out the fun wrap around side pockets! Kids love that extra storage!

I’m often bummed when I sort through my vintage button collection and only find singles of some of my favorite buttons. But, you can bet I was delighted this time around when I had the PERFECT single for this prime location.

The hood also features a drawstring. Patty includes directions for using heavy cording or  fabric to make a drawstring. I opted for a colored shoelace.

Well, Tandy’s at least a little happy with it. Don’t you think?!?

What would you make first? Heavy or Lightweight? Prints or solids? I think the pattern is due out next week, so keep your eyes open for it!
