Summer Stripes and Dots

When it comes to Tandy, I rarely sew to fill a need. This girl's draws are overflowing with hand-me-downs. It's so fun to sew smaller things though. They don't take much time or much fabric.

The top pattern is the Modkid Hailey. I've been doing some sewing tips & tricks on the Modkid blog, and this top was the perfect sample for binding curved seams with knit and shirring with elastic thread

The shorts pattern is pattern D from the Japanese sewing book, Girls Style Book. They are a bit roomy, but they should last a couple of summers in the twill from Joann's.

They are really simple shorts to sew, but I liked the gather detail just at the sides of the cuffs.

Simple and summery, just the way we like it!
