Project Run and Play: All That Glitters

I am having so much fun with this Project Run and Play adventure. Thank you for keeping me around!!

This week's All That Glitters challenge was so hard for me to narrow down at first! When I finally shifted my thinking from something elegant to everyday wear with a touch of glam, the ideas started rolling in. My goal was to incorporate texture, sheen, shine, and of course glitter in a seamless manner.

The Chalk and Notch Fishtail Kimono has been on my to sew list for a while. When I found the taffeta from the "All That Glitters" line at Joann Fabric Store, it was a perfect match.

The curved hemline and gathered back yoke of the pattern added just the right famine touch.

Shortening the sleeves allowed me to add an epaulet detail secured with a gem.

The gems all hailed from an old dress of mine, and they are prominent in each piece of the look.  I posted a peek of the original dress on Instagram

For the top, I started with the LouBee Bimaa sweater pattern. After re-configuring the neckline, I added yokes to the shoulders.

Keeping the yoke edges raw and including the flat lock stitching, add some spunky details. One of the things I love about Project Run and Play has always been how it challenges me to try new things. Flat lock stitching was one of those things as well as this method for neck binding

The gems radiating from the rounded neckline are all hand sewn.

The shorts make me a little giddy. I started with a Japanese bubble shorts pattern I have used several times in the past. The middle seam may be the only thing remaining of the original pattern. Some of the changes include lengthening the shorts, omitting the leg binding and gathering, creating a solid back, adding a flat front waistband, and incorporating the angled pocket.

The sturdy flocked knit has the perfect amount of shimmer. The fabric for the pocket accent and waistband is from the original gemmed dress. The vertical grain has some luster to it.

The socks and head wraps are the ultimate glittery fabric, Glitter Knit by Nicole Miller. The socks pattern is The Wolf and The Tree Abby's Trailblazing Socks. The cuff needed a little embellishment of its own.

There you have our little rocker with a whole lot of glam. Before you head on your way, be sure to VOTE!!
