Back to School Heartland Blog Tour

Tuesday, September 20, 2016

I was pretty excited when I was asked to join the Back to School Heartland blog tour. With the soft colors, florals, geometrics, and owls, choosing the fabrics was the hardest part! Pat Bravo created a collection with endless possibilities!!

My girls love their boots, and their Texas grandparents kindly fund the supply. Thankfully they last through 3 girls in the family! The boots play nicely with these fabrics and dresses.

Art Gallery Fabrics produced the Heartland Fabrics in voile, canvas, quilting cotton, and knit. This first dress combines Trekant Rows Candid in knit and Art Gallery solid knit in Chrystal Pink.

The pattern is the Aubrey Dress by Modkid. The almost hidden kangaroo pocket is her favorite feature!!

I photographed each step while I sewed this one up, so be on the look out for an Aubrey sew-along coming soon to the Modkid blog

I switched from geometrics to florals and from knits to quilting cottons for the next dress. I must say that not all quilting cottons are alike. The feel and drape of this Art Gallery fabric is top notch! The pattern is Modkid Gretchen available only as a paper pattern. It features side ties, a square neckline, and generous sized pockets. Oh, and no closures to sew!!

The pieced front bodice leaves a great space for embellishment. I just love the way Pat Bravo played with the rain drops for this Regn Drops Sun print. Sometimes the simple things tend to be my favorite.

The floral print featured is Blomma Garden Pastiche. The blues, grays, and rose pinks steal the show here!

We've had one of those super hectic couple of weeks. I literally had 10 minutes to take photos while we were on our way somewhere else. When we pulled up to the spot the light was bad, but within a few seconds the light cooperated and the girls did too. Some days it is so nice to be thankful for small miracles!

Be sure to check out all of the other fabric and pattern combinations along the tour!!
