Toaster Sweater #2

Tuesday, December 11, 2018

Loni, of HavinSewMuchFun, recently posted a Sew House Seven Toaster Sweater on Tuesday and started making #toastertuesday and #ontuesdaysweweartoasters a thing. I'm jumping on the bandwagon!! Because, I LOVE TOASTER SWEATERS!! I made my first Toaster Sweater #1 last year. I've made two this year, but you will have to wait until next Tuesday to see the other one.

The Toaster Sweater #2 features a hi neckline in a boatneck shape. The construction is both simple and unique. Skip stripe matching by using a solid or other print, and the top sews up in no time. I added 2.5" in length to account for my height, but no other changes to the size medium.

The other perfect sewing detail is the side vent. The hem corners are actually mitered here which makes for such a clean finish. I used a chain stitch on my overlocker so I could easily turn the corners around the vent. Be sure to check out the sew-along for additional tips.

The navy and cream striped french terry I scored when Hancock Fabrics was going out of business quite a while back. I can't believe I waited so long to make something with it! This looks like a good alternative fabric. For a mid-heavy weight fabric, the result is a boxy, cozy sweater.

Come join in the Toaster Tuesday fun!! We can have tacos while wearing our Toaster Sweaters too!!
