Spotty Dress

Wednesday, October 2, 2013

I’ve been sewing a bit for fall and cooler temperatures lately. This is a pretty simple dress style, but I like how it highlights the fabric. I LOVE this fabric from Banberry Place. Yes, it is just a simple dot, but it is also so much more. I’m not sure my photos do the unique color combo justice. The light pink is more like a dusty rose and the red dots are almost maroon. This is also a French Terry knit which means it is flat on the exterior surface, but covered with loops like a towel on the reverse side making it plenty thick and warm.

The pattern is from the Japanese pattern book, Heart Warming Life Series: Onnanoko no Odekake Fuku (Girls’ Clothes for Special Occasions or the literal translation is Girl’s Clothes for Outings) by Yuki Araki. I switched out the front gathers for a long box pleat, and the back button for a tie.

I think leggings and boots will take this one well into the cooler months. Avery’s poses these days range from this to her “Pledge of Allegiance” pose. I opted to show you this one. Ha!
