Navarre Beach 2013

Friday, July 5, 2013

Todd’s work prevented us from joining in the family beach trip last summer, so we made the most of it this year. Those of you who like to avoid family vacation photos may want to click away now. For those who stick around, here’s more than a couple photos to get the gist of our trip.

We enjoyed the sand.

And the water.

Despite spending as much time in the shade as possible, Tandy managed to get a lovely tan.

We bought Avery a bike for her birthday and took it with us to the coast. She has become obsessed with riding!

Tandy got in a little ride too.

Brooke snapped these amazing underwater photos of our little fish with her iphone and Lifeproof case.Yes, I have case envy. No, I wasn’t paid to say that (but, if anyone for Lifeproof happens to read this…)

Best of all, we got to spend time loving on our nieces and nephews!

Last but not least, we spent a sweltering 45 minutes checking out the butterfly house. Bikes and butterflies seem to be Avery’s favorite things these days.

Christmas Dress 2012

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

I never managed to post Avery’s Christmas dress before the holidays. You’ve probably been around here long enough to know that this dress is much more traditional than my usual style, but it’s good to mix things up a bit.

I used some vintage fabric my dad’s aunt passed on to me. Unfortunately, I had to cut a few pieces twice since I didn’t notice the flaws in the fabric at first. There’s always good and bad when dealing with vintage pieces. I used the Oliver + S picnic blouse pattern lengthened for a dress. I then lengthened the sleeves and added an elastic cuff. Matching plaids makes my head spin, but I think it all worked out for this one.

Love this picture Brooke took of our girl!

Palmer Time

Thursday, November 29, 2012

We had an amazing (but way too short) time with Mike, Brooke, and Palmer here. These two ran each other to exhaustion!

Football Romper

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

I must say, I’m a pretty bad Aunt. Brooke gave me these fabrics to make Palmer a romper way back when I tested Carla Crim’s reversible romper pattern. I decided to use other fabrics for the test romper, so I could use these when any kinks were worked out. Well, first I forgot about the fabric. Then, last football season things were a bit crazy with Tandy’s birth. So, ages later, Palmer will have an Ole Miss football romper to start the season. (Which I can’t believe is around the corner!)

Shout Out for Bebe

Monday, July 30, 2012

Our very own Brooke Davis (my SIL) has her photography work featured over on Hostess with the Mostess today!

This n That

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

Now that Project Run & Play and Mother’s Morning Out are over, I’ve stepped back from my sewing machine quite a bit, so I pulled this photo out of the archives. This applique I managed to sew up in the midst of PR&P for my nephew who turned two. I used the vintage camera applique pattern available from Lil Blue Boo. Now he can sport a camera like his Mommy!

My friend is working up some great invites (more on these later!) for Avery’s birthday party in exchange for a pretty twirly skirt for her daughter. Oh, how I love these fabrics by Dena Designs! The pattern is the Evelyn Apron Skirt by Jona G of Fabritopia

Instead of fabric and pins, I’ll be playing with glitter and glue tonight!

Thanks to Brooke

New Year’s

Monday, January 9, 2012

Due to some work schedules, we celebrated Christmas with the Davis side of the family over New Year’s. When Gramps visited for Christmas day, he mentioned missing decorated sugar cookies as a tradition for Christmas, so you know what I had to do! I baked up some sugar cookies and brought all the trimmings to their house for New Year’s. Gramps got in on the action, but we didn’t manage to capture it on camera. He’s sneaky like that.

Chillin’ in pj’s is always a good idea.

Gogo has enough kiddy chairs for all her little ones, and a train of chairs gets everyone’s attention.

We had a blast having everyone together!

Picture Perfect

Monday, November 28, 2011

It’s been weeks since Brooke’s visit and weeks since my last post, but I’m finally here to show off my girls through Brooke’s beautiful photos. We feel so blessed to have a photographer in the family! Brooke was able to get away from her sweet little one and hubby for a few days with us. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy her company!

Thank you so much Brooke for making the super long trip and sharing your talent with us. We love you!

I'm still playing catch up with my blog, so bear with me. I haven't touched my sewing machine in months either. I'm starting to doubt that the girls will have hand made Christmas dresses this year, but I haven't lost all hope yet.

Visitors

Monday, November 14, 2011

Well, it has been 3 weeks since Tandy made her appearance, and I’m already behind when it comes to keeping up with our little adventures on this blog. It seems all I can manage is eating, nursing, and sleeping whenever I can, so I'm keeping this short. We’ve had some wonderful visitors (and helpers) these past few weeks.

Bath Play

Saturday, January 22, 2011

We made a quick, relaxing trip to Savannah last weekend to visit Todd's brother and his family. We can't wait for these two to be running around together, but for now we will settle for some watery play time.

Bebe's the Best

Friday, December 10, 2010

So, you've heard me rave about the talents of my sister-in-law Brooke. You've seen the amazing results of her work. But, did you know it just keeps getting better!! And, these are the photos that didn't make the cut for the Christmas cards!! (enough with the bad grammar here.)

Avery was light years easier to work with than the last time, and we really had fun wandering around old town Clinton, MS. Brooke captured Avery's spirit in a few of these. They are treasures.

This is so Avery. When asked to smell something, she never fails to scrunch up her nose. I think she is actually blowing instead of inhaling, but that's our girl!

I can't leave without sharing the details of Avery's Christmas dress. This is the Feliz pattern by Farbenmix from the Sewing Clothes Kids Love book. The possibilities with this pattern are infinite. The ruffles up the back are not part of the pattern, but you can find examples of them all over Flickr and a detailed sew along here. The fabrics are by Pillow and Maxfield for Michael Miller.

BTW, Brooke is working on her professional photography blog. We're so excited about her work, so I'll pass it along when she's ready.
