Unfortunately for Todd, most of my preparation activities revolve around Avery's birthday. This year's theme is a berry sweet birthday. I recently finished up this dress for Avery using the Farbenmix Vida pattern. The fabrics are quite an assortment of Michael Miller, Jennifer Paganelli, Robert Kaufman, Tanya Whelan, and Barbara Jones. It has actually been a while since I've sewn anything for Avery given the numerous other gifts, etc. I've been working on. This one was so much fun to put together.
I love all of the extra ruffles and trims.
I'll have tons more to show you after the party, but I wanted to give a hint of a preview with the dress. I may be tempted to show more, but we'll see if I get around to it. Boy, do I love party prep!
Love it!!! So sad we won't be there, but we can't wait to see all the details- I know it will be fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THE DRESS for Avery's party! When you have time, can you answer a few questions about the Vida pattern?
ReplyDeleteI just bought it yesterday - already have my fabrics picked out (yes, the hardest part)...besides finding time to make it.
Did you enjoy making it? Understand the steps, etc??
How does the pattern run - size-wise??
I've considered cutting mine out WITHOUT adding the seam allowance as I have a small almost 4 year old...
BUT I have another younger daughter - so if that didn't work out - I would have another child to grow into my "mistake"...
Best wishes with the party.
Holly-
ReplyDeleteI love making this pattern! It comes together surprisingly quickly. I feel like the steps are pretty clear, but if you run into any confusion send me a message. The size is pretty accurate for my 2 year old. If you search my blog for "vida" you can see another one I made on my daughter. I pull the elastic under the arms all the way, so the fabric is pretty much as gathered as it can be. If you left out the seam allowance, you would probably just leave this looser. Let me know if I can help in any other way. Good luck with yours!
OH how I love this!
