More Royal Color for Christmas

Thursday, December 19, 2013

Building on the royal color I started with Tandy’s Christmas dress, this outfit for Avery incorporates the same purple linen fabric from an upcycled dress. It’s not your traditional color combination for Christmas, but it will extend well beyond the season.

The pattern for the top is the Picnic Blouse by Oliver + S. I’ve been reaching for this pattern a lot lately. It’s great for a longer sleeve length and quick sew. My favorite detail to add is a simple bit of piping below the bodice. The green fabric is from Henry Glass & Company called Sugar Blossom.

The pleated skirt is actually a different twist using the same basic pattern as I used in the Mini Boden skirt knock off. I simply switched out the gathers for box pleats and omitted the pockets and button placket.

It will probably be quiet here for a week or two while we enjoy the holidays with our family. I’ll certainly be back in time to join some of the Project Run & Play fun in January. Will you be joining in?

Until then, have a very merry Christmas!!
