I had so much fun with the first round of the movie inspired theme back in Season 3 of Project Run and Play that I wasn’t sure if I’d like this one as much. Turns out I was way wrong! If you like a good love story that drives you to tears, you are probably familiar with my movie selection.

I loved the author Nicholas Sparks before I loved any of the movies he inspired. Sure, I need a good cry every now and then. And, who doesn’t love a well fitted blue shirt dress. Rachel McAdams made it great in The Notebook, and Avery sure makes it look great here.
These were the important details I wanted to translate into a child sized version.

I used Burda Style pattern 146 to accomplish this shirt dress. The changes I made were actually pretty minimal. I added a stand collar and sewed up a fabric belt. I would have mimicked the floral accent fabric, but as soon as I held up the little mushroom fabric next to the blue linen, I couldn’t go back. The linen is Kaufman Essex linen blend in light blue.
For some reason this pattern took me forever to sew up. The lines are very simple, but the details were a tad time consuming. I must say Burda Style patterns are now at the bottom of my list of patterns to sew. This pattern is marked as novice, but with no illustrations there is a lot to be desired. I love the Burda styles, but I won’t be in a hurry to try the more complicated patterns. I will, however, sew this one up again.
Did you see the contestants Winter Wonderland looks from last week? AMAZING! There were also TONS of link ups for the sew along. Be sure to check it all out this week!
