Sommer Swan Modkid Holly

Wednesday, May 11, 2016

When I received a gift certificate from Fat Quarter Shop along with my winnings from Project Run and Play, I knew I wanted to get some of Sarah Jane Studio's Sommer fabrics. I wish my photography did this fabric justice. It's so lovely!!

I knew I needed a slight contrast to go with the fabrics, and this Art Gallery solid in Apricot was just the thing for the straps and ties.

They aren't swans, but Avery and I stumble across those cute baby and mama geese on our photo shoot. We did our best to keep our distance, but still get them in a photo. So fuzzy and cute! It is a pleasure to watch children find joy in God's amazing creatures.

There are still quite a few Modkid patterns that I have not sewn. The Holly, Caroline, and Bridget are all on my summer sewing list. I'm thrilled to have the Holly marked off of my list. The details on this dress are spot on!! Look at that fun criss-cross racerback!

The skirts are very full, and the drawstrings provide a sweet scallop at the front. The underarm elastic ensures a snug, but comfortable fit.

Didn't I tell you this Sommer fabric was special!! The watercolor look of the chunky gingham makes it unique.

One more shot of that pretty back while Avery watched the fish in the pond.
