Back To School Blog Tour

Be sure to read to the end for the prize details!

The back to school sewing is in full effect!! My daughters' closets are pretty full of summery clothes, so I have been taking the opportunity to sew up some fall wardrobe options.

Can you tell Avery was excited about getting back to school?!?

The colors and style of this tunic are perfect for fall. The pattern is the Sydney Dress by Modkid. It is a paper pattern that includes a dress or top length with three sleeve lengths. I opted for short sleeves since I thought it would be equally cute layered as the temps drop. Add some leggings, and you are good to go!

Can you believe the skirt fabric is flannel?!? I am hoping to convert a few of you to thinking flannel isn't just for button-ups or pajama pants. This dress is perfectly cozy in Patty Young's Acorn Valley flannel. The bodice and hood exterior are denim from the stash I inherited from my great aunt. I almost forgot to mention that Avery sewed her own coordinating headband!

The pattern includes two hood variations. This pixie hood is warm and playful with the flannel lining.

Tandy needed a jump on fall attire too. As much as these girls love their flip flops, they have been begging to wear boots again too.

For this outfit, I modified the Modkid Cassidy pattern. The good news is I have a full tutorial for the changes on the Modkid blog today.

Once again, I paired the denim with flannel from the Acorn Valley line. I highly recommend incorporating a little flannel into your garment sewing for fall!

The secret is out!! There is something good for you too!! Use coupon code BTS2016 for 25% off your entire purchase in the Modkid Etsy store. There are tons of other discounts provide by the tour sponsors too! Check those out here.

  1. I love the modkid cassidy! One question--have you had problems with the closures? Maybe I just got cheap ones but they kept popping open and soon the closure buttons started falling off no matter how 'stuck' I sewed them!

  2. These are some great dresses, but WOW, THOSE BOOTS! :D
I made a ModKid Dakota top out of flannel last winter. Always good to have something cozy ready for a chilly day.
