Shorts With Twirl

I made these shorts up for one of Avery’s sweet friends that happens to like strawberries. (If you think it’s for your kid, it probably is, so help us keep it a secret!) I love the wide legs that make it almost like a skirt, but excellent for riding bikes all the same.

I’m still venturing into my Japanese Sewing Books. This pattern comes from Heart Warming Life Series: Chiisana Onnanoko no Oyafuku (Clothes for Little Girls) by Yuki Araki. The book primarily focuses on knits, but this pattern is versatile enough for wovens. The picture in the book actually looks like seersucker. Obviously, I don’t know any Japanese, so I can’t tell for sure. Jenny Fish kindly passed on tons of this Meadowsweet fabric by Sandi Henderson to me.

I’m slowly finding fun ways to use these cute vintage green buttons I picked up at Warrenton. I love a special detail!
