Let me preface this post by saying this is really embarrassing. On a whim, I decided to attempt sewing along with Selfish Sewing Week hosted by Imagine Gnats. For some strange reason the Straight-cut Sarouel Pants on the cover of the Happy Homemade Sew Chic book appealed to me for a casual summer look. I know, someone should have stopped me right there.
But, I went for it. I even trimmed up the legs hoping skinner would somehow help. It didn’t.
I mean what was I thinking!?!
I’ll be sticking to kids clothes a bit longer. Stay tuned, I’m at least hoping to transform these into something cute for one of my girls.
you're so brave!! i love that you took a risk. actually, until i saw the spread-legs shot with the saggy crotch look I was totally into it! :) and then i mumbled, "Oh. Oh dear." hah. I've never understood that style, but then again I'm not very high fashion. kudos for trying something fun and different!
ReplyDeleteha, it's not you, it's the pattern. I can't imagine it looking good on anyone. though the fabric looks nice!
ReplyDeleteI agree: it's not you, it's the pattern. Can't wait to see what you transform these into. Still...I'd love to see you join us at the Inspire Us Thursday link party on The Inspired Wren.
ReplyDeleteOh Golly. I've often thought of making those. Thanks for sparing me a similar experience! However, maybe if you keep your legs together and take those little mincing Japanese steps no one will notice the wet nappy look?
ReplyDeleteLike Aspen, I thought "what are you talking about? These don't look bad. You've done a good job". But then I saw the other pic and I have to say I'm also not into that baggy crotch style. It's like those horrible jeans that all the teenagers are STILL WEARING that hang way down and show off their backsides. Good on you for attempting it. You did a nice job. It's just not a great pattern.
