Bethioua Kids Collegiate Style

My friend Annika of Naeh Connection is breaking down some language barriers in the sewing world!! She is filling her shop with English patterns translated to German, and now German patterns translated to English.

I jumped on the opportunity to sew up the Bethioua Kids. This is actually my second version. You can find the first one I made here

The pattern offers an assortment of options. There are 3 hem styles, straight, banded, and rounded, as well as short, long and banded sleeve styles. It comes in a women's version too!

My husband and I are big college football fans, admittedly him a little more so than me. I like taking the opportunity each fall to sew up something to support our respective teams. You can see my un-blogged Ole Miss skirt over on Instagram. I bleed maroon in support of my Texas Aggies!

For this top, I used reverse applique with some vintage lace a layer of maroon knit. I was nervous I would accidentally snip into the lace when cutting away the gray layer, but it was a success.

As you can see, I went with the rounded bottom hem. The style is finished and relaxed.

The truly unique aspect of the Bethioua pattern is seen from the back. The sleeves extend across the back and meet at a center seam. The effect is interesting in a variety of fabrics, but really shines with stripes. The pattern designer does a great job of including specific instructions to help you get those stripes perfectly aligned during the cutting and sewing process.

Here's Avery giving you a goofy Gig-em!!
