Sprinkles Birthday Dress

Wednesday, November 8, 2017

I knew I wanted a dress with a retro vibe for Tandy's Bake Shop Birthday dress, and the Modkid London with a slight change served me well. Only sprinkles fabric would do! The Boardwalk Delight Sprinkles fabric by Dana Willard may have been themed for ice cream, but the sky is the limit when it comes to sprinkles, according to Tandy anyway.

The only change I made to the pattern was to swap out the pleated skirt with pockets for a gathered skirt. After determining the length needed plus hem and seam allowances, I cut 2 rectangles the full width of the fabric. The next steps include sewing the side seams, hemming the bottom, gathering the top, and attaching it to the bodice. I love how the dress takes on a whole different look!

We took photos in the bakery where Tandy's party took place. You can read all of the party details here.

Tandy's headband was inspired by a tutorial from Kojo Designs. We had to have more sprinkles! I love how the blue pulls out the blue in the vintage buttons I picked up at the Warrenton antique show.

Check out those coordinating sprinkles! Speaking of coordinate, the bodice lining fabric is Art Gallery Fabric Quartz Pink

This little six year old is full of a little sass and a lot of sweet. I sure hope she stays that way!
