Laundry to Pool Bag

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

I’ve already sounded off with accolades for Jennifer Paganelli and her new book Happy Home. With 21 projects falling into one of the following categories there is sure to be something for everyone:  Decorate, Accessorize, Party, and Dream. I decided to sew up the laundry bag with my own twist. Jennifer Paganelli is such an enabler in this department. She shares with us amazing fabrics and creative ideas, then encourages you to strike out on your own to make something beautiful and unique. So my twist was to take her laundry bag pattern and make it versatile enough to take to the pool. All this really entailed was using a laminated cotton for my bottom section of the bag. I figured this would at least help keep out some of the moisture usually found on poolside decks. One simple change, and you have quite a transitional bag.

As far as this project goes, the detailed instructions make for a simple construction. The finished size is 26”x20”, and the bag is fully lined. This bag would also make a great gift for a friend who travels since it can fold up flat in the bottom of a suitcase. The laminate I used is by Dena Designs, but Jennifer now carries beautiful laminated cottons to choose from. The orange and pink prints are from Jennifer’s Bell Botttoms and Flower Power collections.

Be sure to stop by the rest of the blogs listed on the tour to get more inspiration.
