PR&P Week 1–Winter Wonderland

Project Run & Play Season 8 has finally arrived!! Not only am I thrilled to be sewing along again, but I’m so excited about this outfit! For the winter wonderland challenge, I knew I wanted to include a caplet and a pretty pastel. So, let’s look at the details.

Winter Wonderland

I transformed the summery caplet that is pictured on the cover of this Japanese pattern book to a cozy warm one. Swapping out the lightweight jersey for fleece and adding a hood will certainly help take the chill off.

I love how this pattern is almost a vest underneath with the caplet over the shoulders. The underlayer keeps it in place and warms it up a bit more.

The pink dress has been a dream come true of mine. I’ve had a pink pique (I think) dress in my stash from a thrift store for a while now. I knew the thickness of the fabric would be perfect for a winter jumper of sorts. I guess I’m so proud of this one because other than getting the bodice measurements from an existing pattern, this is all self drafted.

Winter Wonderland raglan

If you check out my Pinterest board, you will find a couple variations of a buttoned raglan. I NEEDED to figure this one out!! With the aid of diagrams for a skirt button placket from a Japanese pattern, I came out with success!

A couple pockets with coordinating buttons complete the look.

Once again, I love how PR&P challenged me to try something new! Now, we’re off for some hot cocoa.
