Modkid Susie, A Pattern by Me

Thursday, March 31, 2016

This year has already been full of some sewing thrills for me, and today, I get to announce another one. MY FIRST PATTERN!! After drafting a couple of pieces during Project Run and Play, I worked with Patty Young of Modkid to issue this Modkid Susie pattern. I am so grateful Patty has given me this opportunity!!

You might recognize the first version of these slant pocket shorts from the All That Glitters week of Project Run and Play. This whole ensemble will be a perfect summer staple!!

The high / low halter top features a shirttail style back providing coverage and room for embellishment. The eyelet fabric made an extra feminine touch.

Patty gave me naming rights for the pattern as well. I chose Susie for my first pattern in honor of my Aunt Susan. While we never sewed together, we often enjoyed crafting together during her much too short life. I learned to sew on her machine that was passed down to me, so it just seemed fitting.

I took the opportunity to add a little trim embellishment for Avery's version.

I'm hoping you love the pocket detail just as much as I do!!

And, of course, that shirttail hem.

The Modkid Susie Pattern will be on sale for the first 24 hours. Be sure to grab it now to sew up all summer long!!
