I need to get to this Vienna Dress in just a moment... Am I allowed to say my own photo of my own daughter took my breath away? I hope so. This was one of those moments where she was smiling at her dad in the background and brushed at her ponytail. Sometimes they just make you gasp for breath and time stands still for just a few fleeting seconds.

Ok, this dress!! The Vienna Dress was recently released in English after previously only being available in Dutch. Right now, you can get it for 10% off with code INSTAPARTY.

The pattern has some great options including a collar, pleated skirt, gathered skirt, and a couple of sleeves. Since I opted to use this very bold vintage border fabric, I went with some of the pattern basics. The fabric has a sateen feel and finish to it.

This V-back feature made the dress a bit more polished in a way for a nine year old. Gaining experience with invisible zippers has finally paid off!! This was my least painful, best installation yet! I still turn to this invisible zipper tutorial for a refresh each time.

The center pleat gives a nice shape and detail accentuating the front curved seam. I intended to further highlight that seam with some pretty maroon piping, but managed to forget it until I was pressing the final hem. Ugh!!

So, I'm curious what you think of this wildly bold print? Does it catch your eye or would you have passed it buy? I almost put it in a donate pile, but tucked it away instead. I'm pleased with this pattern and fabric combo, but that also surprises me.
