Modkid Brynn Top and Spring Break Shorts

Thursday, April 12, 2018

The weather can't seem to make up its mind around here, but that hasn't stopped me from starting a summer wardrobe for my daughters. The latest releases from Modkid, the Brynn Top and Spring Break Shorts, have me pretty excited. A summer set that is both precious and allows for easy play ranks pretty high around here.

The Modkid Brynn Top could not be sweeter! The interesting construction of this top will have you patting yourself on the back as it easily comes together. Here is a great opportunity to use up the fun trim in your stash! Pre-gathered trim saves you a few steps if you like ruffles, but don't leave out piping, ric-rac or lace as options. My narrow hem foot and ruffler foot came in handy here.

We have all the heart eyes for this back design!! The ruffle is continuous from the lower back, around the front curve, and back down. The elastic casing brings the back in a little closer to the body for good coverage.

The Spring Break Shorts come with three views, a basic boxer, this wide angled ruffle, and a simple hem ruffle with petal shaping. Two disclaimers here. These shorts where part of the pre-test, and they are a bit wider than the final version. Also, while quilting cotton works great for the other two views, a fabric with more drape gives that ruffle a softer look. Be sure to scroll down for my second pair with the final fit.

I can't leave you with out a few more photos of this amazing back!

Both patterns come in girls and teen sizing, so even your older girls can take advantage.

As testing wrapped up, I was able to squeeze in one more pair of View B shorts with the final fit. These shorts out of rayon challis fabric show off the unique style with the comfort of pajama shorts.
