Modkid Brooklyn Tween

Wednesday, November 21, 2018

I can't believe Avery is in tween sewing pattern sizing now! I learned to sew when Avery was 6 months old, so this passage of time is extra meaningful to me. My first sewing post is a bit embarrassing to share, but it also documents my progression in sewing and photography. My heart behind this blog has always been to share inspiration and get you going on your own creative journey. Start small and the possibilities are endless!

Sewing with knit fabrics doesn't have to be scary. Hunting down my first knit fabric sewing project proved fruitless. I'm fairly certain I started with a Modkid pattern, and I still recommend them for beginners. The new Modkid Brooklyn pattern is a great place to start! The design is classic, and the sewing is simple.

The pattern features a mock turtleneck and a standard neckband, three sleeve lengths, and a sheath or a-line shape. Using fabrics with at least 50% stretch ensures the neck will stretch enough to fit overhead.

The Modkid Brooklyn pattern isn't a fabric hog either! I upcycled a maxi length brushed poly dress of mine for this sheath dress.

The excitement doesn't end there! Not only does the Modkid Brooklyn pattern come in tween/teen sizing, it also is availible in girls AND WOMEN'S!! To sweeten the deal, use coupon code BLACKFRIDAY2018 for 40% off until Cyber Monday.
