Modkid Wren Peplum Top

Thursday, April 11, 2019

When my daughter requested some new tank style tops, I turned to the Modkid Wren and Kyra patterns. Tanks are perfect for using up smaller knit fabric scraps! You can see the scrappy Kyra Tank I posted on Instagram

Now the Wren is actually a dress pattern featuring a knit bodice and woven skirt.

To create this tank peplum version, I lengthened the bodice by 2". I basically used the same instructions for the skirt portion, but shortened the length to 9". In this case I used knit fabric, but woven fabric would work just as well. I omitted the clear elastic since the lighter weight of the skirt would not require as much reinforcing.

This is a top that will be in heavy rotation this summer!

I'm always trying to stretch the use of patterns I already own. Shifting the use of a dress pattern to a peplum version is about the easiest tweak to make! See the original dress version here
