Floral Cheyenne Tunic

Thursday, October 31, 2019

The only way I was able to use this amazing floral lawn fabric for my Peppermint PJ shorts, was because I had already made my first Cheyenne Tunic with it. Finding a Liberty-esque fabric at a Dallas fabric warehouse for super cheap made my day. It needed a special application.

Intimidation over a slower sewing project and getting the right fit, had previously held me back from sewing up the Cheyenne Tunic from Hey June. After a quick muslin, I was kicking myself. The Cheyenne mostly fit as is. I know I'm not the only one that feels relief at that!

The tunic style top with a collar is not an option that comes with the pattern. Thankfully Sew Altered Style had already done the hard work of figuring out the Popover Tunic Hack

I added contrast chambray to the inside of the placket, but not much peeks out.

I splashed in a bit of the floral and strip combination I love so much with these textured navy buttons.

Do you find you reach for super simple projects after completing more detailed sewing? I sure do! I'll be ready to tackle another Cheyenne soon though.
